Integrated use of bio-organic and chemical fertilizer to enhance yield and nutrients content of tomato

Excessive use of chemical fertilizers causing a serious threat to the agro-ecological system, developing resistance pest and declining food safety. Under current scenario, application bio-organic nutrients sources become imperative sustain productivity arable farming. Thus study possible in soil fertility, crop quality saving cost fertilizer, pot experiment was conducted green-house at Land Resources Research Institute, NARC Islamabad. Integrated effects such as phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB), vermicompost (VC) along with fertilizer investigated on soil-plant contents, growth yield tomato. Post-harvest results showed that integrated significantly increased agronomic (Plant height chlorophyll content) fruit (Number fruits, weight, diameter yield) The maximum plant (161.24cm), contents (61.2), number fruits (19), weight (55g), (45.6a) (1.39 Kg/plant) were recorded treatment T5 where VC+PSB+75%RD applied minimum T1 (control). Treatment has 117% over control. highest N (2.05% 2.89%), P (0.33% 0.50%) K (2.32% 6.67%) concentration shoot tomato respectively found (VC+PSB+75%RD). Similarly, (4 mg Kg-1), (0.66mg Kg-1) (3.53mg T6 (VC+PSB+100RD). Thus, recommend appropriate proportion chemical/synthetic is best option savings achieve benefits regarding yield.
